LCN Meeting Minutes 4-19

Lake Claire Neighbors – Meeting Minutes: 4/19/2012

Peg Ziegler, the President of LCN, called the meeting to order.  There were 14 neighbors and 3 guests in attendance: APD Sgt. Hudson, and two guests presenting building variances .

Officers in attendance: Peg Ziegler (President), Nancy Dorsner (VP Communications), Mary Williams (VP Fundraising), Dan White (VP Zoning), Cara Stephens (Acting Treasurer), Carol Holliday (VP Planning/NPU rep)

The President announced changes regarding the regular monthly meetings, moving the time to 7:00 social and 7:15 meeting, and a room change from the atrium to the Rose Room, still at Frazer Center, on  right side of the building.

President Ziegler noted that anyone wishing to be on the monthly agenda should contact her two weeks prior to meetings, with topic and action being requested.  If that deadline is missed, please contact Peg directly to discuss options.

School committee report:

The Neighborhood School Committee chair, Sherry Neal, presented highlights of the superintendent’s redistricting plan and how it affects our schools; in particular the impact on Mary Lin, Inman, and Grady.  There will be new renovations and an addition at Mary Lin (with no changes in attendance boundaries).  There are still outstanding issues with Inman, where overcrowding is anticipated within several years.

  • Lin annual kindergarten roundup –  May 1.
  • Registration starts  May 2. – Register by end of school to know what class you are in.

There was recognition of the work of this temporary committee, and discussion of creating a standing office concerned with neighborhood schools, which would require a change of by-laws.
