The owners of the two properties at 1715 and 1723 South Ponce de Leon Avenue are seeking to develop these two properties into a family compound. The properties are located in the Druid Hills Landmark District. 1715 S. Ponce includes an historic house and a garage, both of which are contributing structures. 1723 S. Ponce also includes an historic house and a garage, again, both of which are contributing structures. The owners would like to renovate the two historic houses, demolish both garages, and construct two additional single-family houses, a pool and a pool house with an apartment above. The link below includes the owners’ presentation to the Druid Hills Civic Association at its January 21, 2021 meeting. The project was heard at the February 24th meeting of the Atlanta Urban Design Commission (UDC). Based on the UDC staff report, which is included in the link below, the project has been deferred to the March 10, 2021 meeting. It is likely that the project will change from that shown in the link and, if available, the updated plans will be posted here prior to the March 10th meeting UDC meeting. If you are interested in participating in the UDC hearing, you will need to go to the UDC website (https://www.atlantaga.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=50204) to register.
