August LCN Meeting Notes

Meeting began at 7:15 p.m.    Nine members present.
After introductions by the people attending, Valencia Hudson gave a report on the general situation of the neighborhood including the crime statistics, which are low.   Most incidents involve car break ins especially when there is anything visible inside.   She also discussed the use of 311 for non-crime reports such as water leaking into the street, tree problems, etc.
Kathie Ryan gave the most recent crime report for Lake Claire, which included several car break ins.
Cecily Stevens announced the beginning of the Candler Park/Lake Claire Security Patrol that will likely begin in Oct.   The initiative has been posted on Next Door Neighbor and so far the response has been good.    Residents will pay $200.00 while seniors (people over 65) will pay $100.00.   Arrangement for apartment buildings are being worked out.   A total of 225 participants will be needed to begin the first patrol.    Website for membership and sponsorship information: www.cplcpatrol.com ; Email cplcpatrol@gmail.com

A group of about eight residents from Candler Park and Lake Claire make up the security patrol committee that will be a non-profit organization and will be independent of the neighborhood organizations.    A patrol car will be staffed by an off-duty City of Atl. police officer from zone 6 who is authorized to make arrests and call the APD for help if needed.
Joe gave Annsley Klerh’s report that included the formation of a LCN education committee.   It will most likely meet quarterly or if there is a special issue that needs attention.   For more information, contact Annsley at education@lakeclaire.org.   There will be an APS meeting regarding the expansion of the Grady Cluster on Sept. 24th at the Inman Middle School Auditorium.     The meeting at Inman Middle School will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Jim Rockway announced the Lake Claire Tour of Homes that will take place on Sat., Sept. 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.    Volunteers for housing, ticket sales, etc. are needed.   Contact SaraRockaway for more information at fun@lakeclaire.org
