Cross Cluster Neighborhood Meeting at Inman to address middle school capacity

FYI, for any who are interested in attending, this meeting on June 27 at Inman is an opportunity to provide input on a middle school capacity solution.
Sherry
Dear friends and neighbors,
I hope your summer is going well and that you’re enjoying the small respite from redistricting. As you know, plans for the Grady Cluster are not complete, particularly with regard to our middle school capacity. Cecily Harsh-Kinnane has created a Task Force that is soliciting guidance and input from each our schools through LSC and PTO/PTA reps.
The Virginia-Highland Civic Association is hosting a cross-cluster neighborhood meeting on June 27th at the Inman Middle School cafeteria. The goal is to provide the Task Force with a list of criteria for developing and evaluating solutions to address middle school capacity. Here’s how the evening will be structured:
  • Welcome remarks
  • Review of goal and ground rules for the evening
  • Review of the known premises (e.g. the Grady Cluster has 5 elementary schools; we have more students than middle school seats; etc.)
  • Breakout group exercises 1 & 2 – developing, discussing and selecting decision criteria
  • Breakout group results reported to all attendees
  • The ideas and concerns from the meeting will be summarized and presented to the Task Force.
We’d like to have a large turnout from across the cluster; please feel free to share the agenda with your neighbors. Our meeting will begin promptly at 6:30, and we have an ambitious agenda.  Consequently, attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive no later than 6:15p.m.
Finally, it’s my hope we can begin a more official and consistent cross-cluster collaboration efforts through the neighborhood associations.  I hope to convene a meeting along those lines after the 4th of July holiday; please keep on the lookout for more information on that front.
I look forward to working with you.
All the best,
Nicole
