The applicant for the property at 1585 South Ponce de Leon, also known as Pinebloom, has submitted an application to the Atlanta Urban Design Commission (UDC) seeking to develop the site, which is located in the Druid Hills Landmark District. Currently on the site are the original house and carriage house, both of which are contributing structures, and the old Jackson Hill Baptist Church building, which is not a contributing structure. The project consists of renovating the two contributing structures, demolishing the church building, and constructing six buildings containing a total of eleven dwelling units. This project was heard at the February 10, 2021 meeting of the UDC. Based on the staff report, the UDC deferred the project to its March 10, 2021 meeting. The materials presented to the UDC on February 10th, along with the staff report for the project, can be viewed at the link below. The UDC staff report is at the end of the document. It is likely that the project will change considerably from the February 10th submission and, if available, the updated plans will be posted here prior to the March 10th UDC meeting. If you are interested in participating in the UDC hearing, you will need to go to the UDC website (https://www.atlantaga.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=50204) to register.
