Guest speakers (Representatives of the City Council, and Atlanta Police Department)

Lt. D. Crowder, of the 6th Atlanta Precinct, gave an update on the crime situation in Lake Claire that he described as low. A resident asked about what to do if garbage or debris from the sidewalk or street is thrown on her property. Lt. Crowder responded that under no circumstances should a perpetrator be confronted rather a call to 911 should be made immediately. Lt. Crowder can be reached at: djcrowder@atlantaga.gov He added that he checks his email very frequently

The resident also said she felt very isolated from her neighbors. At this point, Stephanie Ramage, Ombudswoman, City of Atlanta (404-852-5657), introduced herself and a discussion followed about how to better connect with neighbors. Her email is: sramage@atlantaga.go

LCN officer’s reports: Officers present: Robin Singer, Zoning, Ann Mauney, Safety, Carol Holliday, NPU, Joe Agee, President. Also present Annsley Klehr, Education Chair and Naka Nathaniel, LCN representative to the Freedom Park Conservancy.

Joe reported for Treasurer, Eileen O’Neil, that the LCN currently has reserves of $13,256.30 and so far 127 LCN members have paid the $20.00 fee for the year, which is almost 90% of the amount from last year.

Also reporting for Fundraising: Pen Sherwood added $158.00 from LCN merchandise sales.

Joe added that, according to an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Pullman Yard project, that had appeared to delayed because of financial concerns with the Atomic Entertainment Company, is now back on track through a partnership with the Ponce City Market developers. Work should begin sometime early next year with the renovation of the historic buildings, shops, and a film studio. Later a boutique hotel and music stage will be added along with pedestrian and bike paths.
