Officer Reports

Treasurer — Jay Severa Finances are stable. Activity is typical for this time of year; the most significant revenue period is generally year-end, with the arts and crafts event. Some dues are continuing to come in.

Zoning — Beth Grashof No zoning variance issues to report.

Planning & NPU — Carol Holliday Carol shared the following upcoming Freedom Park events:

  • Freedom Park Tree Tours (co-presented with Trees Atlanta):
    • The Living Legacy of Freedom Park — Trees, Trails and Civic Roots Friday, July 24 | 9:00–10:30 AM
    • Sunset Tree Tour: The Living Legacy of Freedom Park — Trees, Trails and Civic Roots Thursday, October 8 | 6:30–8:00 PM
    • Carol noted she has attended a previous tour and found it worthwhile.
  • 2nd Annual “The Park is Art!” Photo Contest (Freedom Park Conservancy):
    • Submissions open June 1 – August 1, 2026 at freedompark.org
    • Categories: Professional; Adult Hobbyist (19+); Teen (13–18); Youth (Under 13)
    • Freedom Park is Atlanta’s designated Art Park.
    • Winners announced September 1; prize winners receive a framed print displayed at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum.

Communications — Nancy Dorsner

  • The Freedom Park Tree Tour and Photo Contest information shared by Carol has been published on the LCN website and included in the recent mailing.
  • The LCN online shop has not yet been restored to the website. Penn Sherwood is currently out of the country; Nancy will follow up with Joe regarding the item list and pricing so the shop can be relaunched.
  • Nancy raised two ongoing items :
    • Welcome Committee: There has been recurring discussion about restarting the welcome gift program for new neighbors moving into Lake Claire. Nancy will begin asking around for someone willing to spearhead the effort.
    • Neighborhood Mural: The existing mural has deteriorated, is covered in tags, and no longer looks good. LCN does have budget available for restoration, though given its current condition, the membership discussed whether it may make more sense to commission something new rather than restore the original.

Safety — Deanne Uroic No updates at this time. Deanne will contact Lt. Denson to confirm his ongoing participation and ensure an APD representative is present at the June meeting.

Environment — Melissa Pressman Not present / no report.

Fundraising — Pen Sherwood Currently out of the country; no report.
