           Monthly Meeting: Thurs. May 21, 2020

Guest speakers (Representatives of the City Council, and Atlanta Police Department)

 Valencia Hudson, Representative, Natayln Archibong:    She spoke about trash & recycling pickup and noted that the big takeaway regarding trash pickup was that they are not going to pick up trash (bagged or otherwise) that is not in the herbie.   She will confirm whether or not shredded paper should be bagged.

LCN officer reports

Beth Grashof, VP for Zoning, reported that there were no zoning items for May.

Miriam Herbers, VP for Safety, reported that the drag racing on DeKalb Ave. has stopped and is now quiet.

Melissa Pressman, VP for Environment, spoke about DeKalb Ave.   Some work on paving was being done but not much else.

Pen Sherwood, VP for fundraising, is working with the Candler Park Market to continue selling LCN merchandise and, depending developments of the COVID-19 restrictions, will explore the possibility of the Annual Lake Claire Centennial BBQ in fall.

Joe Agee, President, relayed a message from Bill Fleming about arranging a compliance walkthrough with members of the City’s Housing Code Enforcement Dept. for the purpose of neighbors having the opportunity to share their experiences through onsite demonstrations of the issues regarding decisions made by code enforcement officers.

Announcements and current issues:

Carol Holliday, VP for NPU, announced a proposal for changes to the NPU-N bylaws to formalize and set standards for virtual meetings; a vote on the updated bylaws will be held in the June LCN meeting.

Other issues – those with concerns or information they wish to bring to the membership.

                           Lake Claire Neighbors meets the third Thursday of each month.

The next regular LCN meeting will be Thurs., June 18, 2020
