January Meeting Minutes

                 Minutes-Lake Claire Neighbors

           Monthly Meeting: Thurs. Jan, 2021

                                    7:15 PM via Zoom

 

The meeting began at 7:16 with 11 members participating and 4 guests

 

Guest speakers (Representatives of the City Council, and Atlanta Police Department)    

 

Valencia Hudson:   

 

Sgt. King, APD, 6th Precinct:  He reported that efforts were continuing to be made to control racing on DeKalb Ave.  

 

Councilmember Natalyn Archibong:   Carol asked about the process concerning the proposed tree ordinance.   She agreed the process was not as transparent as it should be and would work to improve the situation. 

 

LCN officers attending and reports: 

Miriam Herbers, VP for Safety, Beth Grashof, VP for Zoning, Carol Holiday, VP for NPU and Planning, Pen Sherwood, VP for Fundraising, Joe Agee, President

 

Beth Grashof briefly outlined the proposed amended ordinance for short term rentals that had also been posted on the LNC website.    There were no comments.  

 

Miriam Herbers brought up the incident about the women in Candler Park who was followed to her home.   911 was called and the suspect did not enter the home but had left before the police arrived.  

 

Pen Sherwood indicated that LCN merchandise was available the LCN website.

 

Joe Agee gave the financial report:  excluding the restricted Mural Funds, the LCN has a current balance of $10,561. 

 

Announcements and current issues:

 

Allison Troxel was introduced as the new representative for the Freedom Park Conservancy.   She announced that there was a lot going at FPC and she would have more information at the next meeting.  

 

Annsley Klehr announced that APS were beginning in classroom teaching although there was still concern about the Covid virus.    

 

Beth Grashof indicated that the proposed development for the properties a 1715 and 1723 will be on Urban Design Committee agenda in Feb.   Joe added that issue for LCN is that the properties abut and directly impact the end of Hardendorf Ave. 

                

                Lake Claire Neighbors meets the third Thursday of each month.   

The next regular LCN meeting will be Thurs., Feb. 18, 2021
