Welcome
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM.
Guest Speakers
Jacob Pierce, District Director, CM Lilliana Bakhtiari’s Office (jpierce@atlantaga.gov | 470-543-6221)
Jacob introduced himself, noting he joined Councilmember Bakhtiari’s office in March. He shared the following updates for Lake Claire specifically:
- Sidewalk repairs on Cleburne Avenue — ATLDOT has been contacted; repairs are expected to be completed within 2–4 weeks. Crews are currently stretched due to World Cup preparations.
- Pothole on the Avenue — Has been flagged with ATLDOT; the office is monitoring follow-up.
- Lake Claire Park misuse — The Department of Parks and Recreation is looking to assign park rangers to patrol the park. Additional signage will be installed to clarify that the courts are for tennis use only, not pickleball.
Jacob encouraged all neighbors to submit 311 reports for any city-related issues, as this assists his office with internal tracking and routing to the appropriate departments.
Atlanta Police Department — Lt. J. Denson (jtdenson@atlantaga.gov | 470-707-4350)
Lt. Denson reported that crime in the area has been doing well. He noted a traffic detail has been scheduled for the Clifton/Flying Biscuit intersection area due to recent traffic issues.
In response to community questions about FIFA World Cup staffing, Lt. Denson confirmed that adequate staffing is planned. Officers will be working 12-hour shifts, and approximately 250–300 officers from other jurisdictions will be brought in to assist. APD will have sufficient presence to continue serving the community during the event.
