A successful Lake Claire Halloween Parade!

The annual Halloween parade and party was the last week of October.  The parade line-up started as always on Marlbrook at Ridgewood, and marched to Lake Claire Park for food, treats, and the much anticipated return of the Costume Competition!

Congratulations to the Costume Competition winners this year! Best Kid Costume: 1st “I’m Just a Mushroom,” 2nd Freddie Mercury; Best Group: 1st Tough Trucks, 2nd Enchanted Creatures of Lake Claire; Best Family: 1st 101 Dalmatians, 2nd Austin Powers.

A special thank you to all volunteers, judges and donors who made this event possible. MC Matt Kotheimer kept the crowd entertained while local artist Stephanie DeSantis of @WildArtAdventures kept things fun and creative with spooky sketchbooks and tie dye kits. Special thanks to our event sponsors: Steve Raimonde & John Morgan, who provided the pizza, Cynthia Baer, who provided the fun swag, Cushman & Wakefield, Sean’s Candler Park, Ken Zeff, Poco Loco, Brave+Kind bookshop, Marco’s Pizza, and the Popcorn Man, who generously serves up the finest each year.
Everyone, from our tiniest ghouls and goblins to our oldest adults, all had fun.

If you want to be involved in planning next year’s parade, contact halloween@lakeclaire.org!

Freedom Park Conservancy Fundraising

Dear Neighbor,

Freedom Park is not just a park; it’s “Our Park,” and it needs your help to shine brightly!

Did you know that over 34,250 residents live within a ten-minute
walk of Freedom Park? If you’re one of these neighbors who cherish our beloved
park and wish to see it clean, welcoming, and vibrant, we invite you to be part
of something special.

As we recently celebrated Freedom Park’s 25th birthday on September 28, there’s no better time to contribute and make a difference. You can give the gift of a cleaner, more welcoming park as we launch our Friends of the Park initiative.

Our primary objective is to address your requests for a better-maintained park, starting with tackling litter. To address this issue, we’ve initiated a fundraising campaign to install additional trash cans. The city-approved bins cost approximately $4,300 each to purchase and install. To add approximately 30 new cans, we aim to raise $60,000.
We’re thrilled to announce that Park Pride has embraced our
cause and accepted our Matching Fund Grant application, highlighting
their commitment to enhancing the park experience for all users. However, to
secure the Matching Grant, we must raise the full $60,000.

Today, you have the power to make a lasting impact on Freedom Park. By making a donation and becoming an official Friend of Freedom Park, you can help us reach our goal. It’s important to note that every dollar you contribute will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $60,000, thanks to Park Pride’s generous support.
Please donate today and help us double your impact on enhancing “Our
Park.” Your generosity will make a world of difference.

Donate today to double your impact and enhance the park for all to enjoy.

With gratitude for the past and the future,
Sally Dorn
Freedom Park Conservancy Fundraising Chair
